Or, you know, 30 years ago in the case of the series, but at this point, we can celebrate all of it: movies, series, animated series, whatever. This is the post for prompts for the challenge running from now through May 31, 2023*.

Please post your prompts one to a reply, and with a subject line of the character(s) prompted. After that? Go wild. I'm going to, to start us off.

For those who like themes to work within, well, it's an anniversary. Maybe prompts about notable dates -- birthdays, anniversaries, deaths, wars, significant events -- but honestly, any prompt that sounds fun? Post it.

Crossovers are fine. Any type of fan creation is fine. Fic, art, icons, playlists/fanmixes, meta, essays, textile arts (crochet, knitting, cross-stitch, anything I haven't thought of), comics and cartoons -- if you created it for a prompt, we'd love to share in it. If someone wants to do a Highlander crossword, I have no idea how you'd do it, but it sounds like fun.

There is no minimum word count or icons per post, etc. There is no maximum. Fill as many prompts as you like. Fill a prompt someone else has already done if it appeals to you, too! This is very much a 'More cake!' fest. 'There can be only one' will not apply to the prompts, in other words.

Next month will be 30 years since the premiere of Highlander the Series. Where has the time flown? But to quote Kastagir, 'I think we should hold a party.' Yes, it's the anniversary of the series, but don't let that stop you from prompting for the movie or the Raven, or the Animated Series.

Essentially, I was thinking I'd put up a post for prompts and people could write or draw, make playlists or icons, or other art. Someone wants to crochet for it? Please, go for it!

All the prompts here in this HL_Chronicles community.

As many fills for a prompt as people want to create because we are an older fandom and 'More cake!' is a fine thing.

Either post your fill to the community, link to it at your DW, or the AO3, and I'll create an AO3 collection for it this week. (By which I mean, I'm reading the guide on doing so next.)

And just... prompt away, create away, and post when ready. We're already in Spook Me territory, and NaNoWriMo, and Yuletide, so don't worry if you don't get anything created/posted before a Highlander's birthday, whether that's Duncan's birthday (Dec 21) Connor's birthday (Jan 1). If you can? Great! If not? It's a party and you're bringing more cake to refresh the buffet!

I'd say let's run the thing through the end of the season, i.e, end of May, 2023. If you create after that? What the heck, more cake!

So, if people are interested, please reply? I'll set up a prompt post next, and I will try to get an AO3 collection set up by Friday for the fast workers! (No names shall be mentioned, but know that we love you!)

If Connor MacLeod died this year, if the Kurgan was still hunting Ramirez into the 21st century, what would that change?

What kind of ripples could the Kurgan cause in Penny Dreadful?

Rachel Ellenstein is an immigrant who was very likely dodging, or escaped from, a concentration camp: has she taken up political activism now that she's retirement age? (If you think I'd love to see her end up on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, you're right.)

Kastagir and his boom-boom would fit beautifully into the microbrewery resurgence; he's also probably fond of photo-bombing selfies.

Ramirez' metal-working may have turned up in a museum or reports of his prowess with women across three continents could emerge, fictionalized, from the Watchers.

What did the gloriously snarky news-vender from the movie* think of the Chitauri attacking Manhattan? *("What does 'baffled' mean? What does 'incompetent' mean?")

30 Years party!

On March 7, 1986, a movie called Highlander came out.

Yes, really: 30 years ago next month, we met Connor MacLeod. And Heather MacLeod, Juan Sanchez Villa-Lobos Ramirez, the Kurgan, Rachel Ellenstein, Brenda Wyatt... As Kastagir said, "Let's throw a party!"

hl_chronicles /hl_chronicles is hosting this anniversary. No word limit. No duration/size limit for vids/art. Any of the characters are fair game. Crossovers are fine. Crossovers with characters from Highlander: the Series are absolutely kosher; just include someone or something from the movie.

What are we looking for? Anything, really.

TL; DR – Highlander the Movie is turning 30, so we're throwing a party at hl_chronicles/hl_chronicles ! Any and all types of fan-works are welcome so long as they include someone or something from the first Highlander movie. Yes, anyone, including any distinctive swords or other objects. Cross with other fandoms old or new, add in HL: the Series characters, do fusions, do reboots, do genderswaps – it's all fair game.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the hl_chronicles challenge and for all the awesome and varied pieces of work we got.

The challenge is coming to a close. We will quit updating the master post of fanworks after Oct 21.

You'll still be able to post on the communities after that, but you'll need to use the 'challenge amnesty' tag. The AO3 Collection, HL_Chronicles, will remain open, not least so that we'll have all the reboots in one place.

We hope you've had a good time, we certainly have!
